Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: We live outside of the Alpine/West Menlo league boundaries, but my child goes to school within the boundaries. Can he play in your league?
A: Unfortunately, no. The leagues are set by residential boundaries and are strictly enforced.
Q: My child is a really good player and would be able to play in a higher level of Little League. Can she “play up” despite her age?
A: A: No. Our League follows the "age determination date" set by Little League International in each division. Age eligibility is determined by a player’s age as of April 30, 2009. No exceptions are made.
Q: My child just misses the cut-off date to play in the next higher division by a few days. Can he sign up for the higher division?
A: No. Our League follows the "age determination date" set by Little League International in each division. Age eligibility is determined by a player’s age as of April 30, 2009. No exceptions are made.
Q: My child has played T-Ball in the Alpine league, and their birth certificate is already in the system – Do I need to provide it again for coach pitch?
A:No, you do not
Q: My child is older than the age requirement for coach pitch but would be more comfortable playing in this league. Can he play T-Ball instead?
A: Yes. While a younger player is not allowed to play in an older league, older players are allowed to “play down” in a younger league if they so choose.
Q: I am not comfortable sending a copy of my child’s birth certificate in the mail. Is there another option?
A: Yes. You may submit all registration paperwork in person to a registration representative during on-site registration (date and location will be listed on the Web site.)
Q: I am able to register online but do not wish to pay by credit card. Is there another payment option?
A: Yes. You may either mail a check to the Alpine/West Menlo Little League address, or submit it in person to a registration representative during on-site registration (date and location will be listed on the Web site.)
Q: I already registered my child to play Coach Pitch, but now he’s changed his mind and doesn’t want to play. Can I get a refund?
A: Little league does not issue any refunds.
Q: I have two children playing in this division. Can they be placed on the same team?
A: Yes. Siblings registering before the deadline are given first priority for same team placement. Just be sure to notify the commissioner of their relationship at the time of your online registration.
Q: Are we allowed to request team placements (playing on the same team with a friend), and if so, how?
A: Yes. There is a field on the online registration form that accepts the name of ONE friend. Every effort will be made to place the friends together. Note that priority for team placement will be based on when both players’ paperwork is received.
Q: How and when are teams formed?
A: Teams are formed after the Coach Pitch registration deadline. Only until this time will we know how many players have signed up, and thus how many teams to create. Every effort will be made to form teams according to players’ schools. Players will be placed on teams in order of when their registration (including the receipt of paperwork) was completed.
Q: How will I know what team my child is on?
A: Once all the teams have been formed, team coaches will be notified of their rosters. At that time, coaches will notify their players either by phone or email within 48 hours of receiving their rosters.
Q: Can my child switch teams after teams are formed?
A: No. Switching teams is not allowed. Anyone found switching teams will be immediately be removed from the team and may lose the right to play in the 2007 season.
Q: Where are games played? I can’t find a game schedule or any field assignments?
A: A game schedule with field assignments can not be made until after the registration deadline. Until then, we do not know how many teams to create and thus what the field requirements are. As soon as it becomes available, you will be notified of it by your team coach.
Q: When does the season start?
A: Opening day ceremonies for Coach Pitch mid-March (final date will be posted on the Web site). The first day of games will start the following week.
Q: What equipment does my child need?
A: Your child needs to have his own mitt. The league will provide a tee, balls, bats, helmets, and a uniform shirt.
Q: What is a guideline for snacks & food to bring during games?
A: For snacks, bring orange slices – If it is your turn to bring food after one game we would suggest ordering pizzas and having them delivered to the field on weeknights – for Saturday morning games we would opt for bagels/donuts & juice boxes.
Q: How many games a week will be scheduled?
A: Two; one during the week and one on Saturday.
Q: Is coach pitch played on a regular size little league field?
A: Yes, it is – this is a step up from T-ball.
Q: Do the coach’s actually pitch overhand to the kids?
A: Yes, they do. Q: Are all the kids in this division 7 years old?
A: All kids in this division are 7 years old on April 30th, 2009. |
