Juniors
Our Junior division is comprised of 13, 14 and 15 year olds as a combined league for Alpine and Menlo-Atherton. In recent seasons, District 52 teams in with Juniors programs included RC Highlanders, Menlo Alpine, Palo Alto, Pacifica, Redwood City American, Redwood City National and San Carlos. The All-Stars teams consist of 12 and 14 players selected from the eligible 13 & 14 year olds on the current rosters from each of the local leagues to compete in Little Leagues' International tournament.
Regular Season for Juniors runs from the beginning of April and ends about the first week of June, with practice starting the middle of February. Saturdays in late February and Early March are dedicated to Spring Training and inter-squad play.
The regular season consists of one round of playing each team in the league, as long as we have enough dates that permit this. The District All-Star tournament will be played between the last week in June to about the third week in July.

Seniors
The Senior division is comprised of 14, 15 & 16 year olds from each of our local leagues within the District 52 boundaries and Alpine and Menlo-Atherton combine rosters for their team(s). Recently, the local leagues competing in this division were Highlanders, Menlo Alpine, Palo Alto Half Moon Bay & Pacifica. All-Stars are run the same as in the Junior Division, but the 14-year-olds in Seniors play on the 13/14 year old All-Star team.
Regular Season for Seniors runs in conjunction with the High School baseball season. The players not playing on High School teams will start practice in late February or early March. The players that are playing on High School teams are not allowed to play on any other organized teams during their HS season. We start our regular season the day the HS regular season is over. The regular season consists of multiple rounds. This will be determined after we get a better feel for how many teams we will have. The year-end tournament is in June and will be a single elimination with participation from all the teams from the local leagues.
The All-Star tournament will usually be played between 6/30 - 7/21 and it has not been determined who is hosting this tournament. |

Big League
The Big League division is comprised of 16, 17 & 18 year olds within the District 52 boundaries. Players from all over the District play with each other. The teams are considered to be District 52 teams and not local leagues, which allows us to bring in players from other baseball programs that do not have a division at this age group. All-Stars are selected from the current Big League teams, but the 16-year-olds in Big League, play on the 15/16-year-old All-Star team. Last year we had three Big League teams and we are hoping to increase once again this year. Redwood City National administers Big League.
Regular Season for Big League runs in conjunction with the High School baseball season. The players not playing on High School teams will start practice in late February or early March. The players that are playing on High School teams are not allowed to play on any other organized teams during their High School season. We start our regular season the day the High School regular season is over. The regular season consists of multiple rounds with other teams in other Districts. This will be determined after we get a better feel for how many teams we will have and the other teams in the districts we compete with. The All-Star tournament will usually be played between 6/30 - 7/21

Team Section & Games
Teams are then selected to provide balanced competition. There are 12-14 players on each team. Games are seven innings and usually 18 games are scheduled. In addition, an All-Star team competes in the Little League Junior Baseball World Series.
If you are considering playing in a different league please make sure you know the advantages of Junior League:
- All players are "competitive" since 13 and 14 years old make up the teams.
- Every one gets to play with a minimum play rule of three innings (no one sits on the bench for a season).
- Juniors begin the end of March / early April and plays through the beginning of June. This helps maximize your time for summer activities beside baseball
- Juniors play 2 games a week, one game on Saturday, one game during the week, playing about 18 games. Practice is usually on Sunday.

Spring Training - Differences from Majors
During "Spring Training", all players train together in all phases of the game. Players practice new skills, such as lead-offs for runners and pick-offs for pitchers. Pitchers and catchers work on the new pitching distance of 60' 6" (the base-path is 90ft v. 60ft for minors/majors). Each workout is about 90 minutes/2 hours each weekend. We do not have tryouts. We will evaluate the players during the workouts. We then select teams based on the skills demonstrated by the players, where the players go to school, friends playing, etc. and try to come out with balanced teams. Teams practice a couple of weeks and play some inter-squad games then we start the season, probably the Saturday before Daylight Savings Time begins. |

Umpiring Skills
A special training session for potential umpires is held. We will cover the rules and mechanics of umpiring. After this session you will be ready to umpire games at local Little League games. We will forward your name to all local umpire coordinators |
