When will I find out of my child is on a Majors team or playing in Minors? When will I found out which team my child is on for Minors? Is there a draft for Minors? When will I find out of my child is on a Majors team or playing in Minors? The draft for Majors will be held in early February 2009. All players drafted by Majors teams will be notified within a few days of the draft by the coaches directly. If you don’t hear from a Majors Coach by Saturday, February 10th, then your child will be playing for a Minors team.

When will I found out which team my child is on for Minors? The draft for Minors in 2007 will be held around mid February 2009. You should hear from your coach on or about February 15, 2009 as to which team he is on.

Is there a draft for Minors? Yes, there is a draft. The draft is to fairly select players and distribute them by team so that the teams are balanced.

Can I make a special request of which teams my son will play on? Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate requests for specific team placement.

How do I ensure that my child is playing on a team of my choosing? If you volunteer as either a Head Coach or an Assistant Coach your son will play on the team in which you are volunteering.

Can my son ‘play down’ in Pitching Machine rather than play Minors? If you would like your child to play in the Pitching Machine league, rather than Minors for personal reasons, please contact the Minors Commissioner directly to discuss the situation.

I already registered my child to play Minors, but now he’s changed his mind and doesn’t want to play. Can I get a refund? Little league does not issue any refunds.

When do Minors practices start? Practices are scheduled to begin the week after the Minors Draft. However, with the Winter Break scheduled for many children, practices may begin on February 25th. Your coach will let you know the practice schedule.

Where are Minors games played? Minor’s games will be played at Woodside Elementary (McCovey Field) and also at La Entrada School in Menlo Park. Portola Valley Town Center will not be available to the league this year so no games will be played there.

How many games are in the Minors season? In 2009 there were 13 games. We project we will have time for approximately 12 games over the season.

How many teams are in the Minor League? In 2008, there were 12. We project that we will have 12 teams again.

What is the selection process for the Minors All Star Team: (direct from rule book)? "Minors Super Bowl Team: 14 players shall be selected. All 14 players shall be selected by a vote of the Managers (or Coach-representative selected by a Manager) of every Minors team taken during a Managers Meeting to be held no later than June 13th and chaired by the Minors Commissioner. Managers/Coach-representatives must vote for 14 players but shall not be allowed to vote for a player from his/her own team. Only players who receive votes from no fewer than 70% of the teams (e.g. 10 teams out of 14) shall be selected to the Minors Super Bowl Team. If less than 14 players receive 8 or more votes on the first ballot, subsequent secret ballots shall be cast until all 14 players have been selected with the support of 70% of the teams. The Minors Commissioner shall collect all ballots, count all votes and announce results from all ballots."
