Biography

As an Operating Partner, Skip is responsible for helping to support Element's water investment strategy and for providing advice on specific investments in the water sector. Skip is currently a Senior Advisor to one of Element's portfolio companies.

Skip has more than 30 years of operating experience in the water industry. In 1973, Skip and his partners founded Ecolochem, Inc., a provider of outsourced industrial water treatment services for a wide range of industries including power, refining, chemical, pulp and paper, automotive, electronics, and pharmaceuticals. From 1973 to 2003, he served as Ecolochem's President and Chief Executive Officer. During Skip's tenure as President and Chief Executive Officer, Ecolochem's business grew to over $100 million in annual revenue and became the largest outsourced water services provider to the U.S. power industry.

In November 2003, Ecolochem was sold to Ionics, Inc., in a cash and stock transaction valued at more than $300 million. Skip subsequently became a Vice President of Ionics, with responsibility for Ionics' Ecolochem and industrial water divisions. In February 2004, Ionics was acquired by General Electric for $1.3 billion.
