Biography

Monica is a graduate in Economics and has a Master Degree in "International Business" from Sophia University, Japan.  She is concluding her PhD thesis at the same University, developing research on Comparative Corporate Governance.  She has worked for more than 20 years in Financial Markets in Brazil, Japan and China (Hong Kong). Her experience comprises Equity Research analysis, money management and business development. For about ten years, she was an Equity Research analyst, specialized in cyclical industries, such as Steel & Mining, Paper & Pulp as well as Electric Utilities and Real Estate, both in Japan and Brazil.  In this capacity, she worked for Baring Securities in Japan, and for Merrill Lynch and Santander Investment in Brazil. She also managed large investment portfolios for high net worth individuals in Brazil and abroad for UBS AG.In recent years, she focused on Equity Sales market development for Itau Securities in Asia, leading a team that placed several IPOs of Brazilian companies in Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, Korea and Japan.  She also was in charge of developing secondary market sales of Brazilian Equities for clients in the region.

Monica is fluent in her native Portuguese, as well as English, French and Japanese.  She has also published several newspaper articles about Industrial Economics, as well as academic articles especially on Corporate Governance. At FIR Capital, is a business developer, in charge of fund raising for the company's upcoming Funds.
