Biography
Randy joined Draper Fisher Jurvetson in 2002 and is a Managing Director of DFJ Growth Fund. His career spans more than 25 years in the technology and media industries as a venture capital investor, operating executive and entrepreneur.
Prior to co-founding DFJ Growth Fund, Randy was CFO of FeedBurner, a DFJ portfolio company acquired by Google. He was previously a Managing Director of Tribune Ventures and Corporate Vice President of Tribune Company, where he led early-stage investing and served on the boards of BlackVoices (AOL), Centerpost (West Corp), iExplore (TUI Travel), Intellinex (ACS), Legacy, Performics (DoubleClick) and Teach.com (E&Y / Intellinex). Randy has also held principal investing positions with CID Equity Partners and Hughes New Ventures, where he participated in the founding investments for DIRECTV, Motient, and XM Radio. Additionally, Randy served in senior operating positions with DIRECTV and Screenz, where he played key roles in their formation, development and growth.
Randy began his career as an engineer with GM Hughes Electronics and Martin Marietta, where he worked in the fields of wireless and satellite communications, signal processing, and optoelectronics. He holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School, an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California, and a BS with High Honors in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida.
